We value the Living Word in our midst and the Written Word in our hearts.

Community

We value gathering together.

We value those practices that help us live our life toward God.

Sacrifice

We value sacrifice for the good of others.

Mission

We value a purpose for our life that extends beyond our world.

Essential Practices

prayer

Prayer is the means by which we allow Jesus to lead this church (James 5:15-16).

teaching from the Bible

Biblical teaching is the means by which we seek to know Jesus and become disciples of Him (Acts 2:42).

living in community

God speaks to people through the Body of Christ. The community of believers that makes up the church is the means by which we confirm God's call upon our lives and it is the means by which we seek to serve our world (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Romans 12:4-5, I Corinthians 10:17, I Corinthians 12:20, Ephesians 4:4).

sharing the Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper or Communion is a significant remembrance given to the Church as a means of remembering what has been accomplished for us. Each church celebrates the Lord's Supper as often as they meet together (I Corinthians 11:23-34).

acts of worship

Worship involves our whole being. We seek to "present our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is our spiritual service of worship" (Romans 12:1).

including all kinds of people

We seek to live out a childlike faith. We wish to learn from our children and value them as full members of our community, having fun together with them (Matthew 18:1-6). We value the wisdom and maturity of adults of all ages (Galatians 3:28).

we practice mission

The life we live is to be an incarnation of Jesus Christ for our world (Galatians 2:20, John 20:20, 21). Jesus was the ultimate Suffering Servant and we now seek to be the suffering servant to our world by upholding the cause of the oppressed (Psalm 146: 7) and living out the life of Christ on this earth.

using our talents to build up the church

Spiritual gifts are the means by which Jesus equips His Church. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to every member of the church for the building up of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:15-16). Ministry does not belong to a certain class or gender of Christian. (Galatians 3:26-29). All disciples of Jesus are ministers and as such must be allowed to develop their unique place in the Body.

sacrificial giving of our time and money

The life of a follower of Jesus Christ is demanding. We no longer live for what we can get out of life but for how we may serve the One who has given His all for us (Matthew 16:23-26).

baptism

Baptism is a significant act given to the Church as an evidence of and a means of grace. Believer baptism by immersion is a part of the regular route of membership into the Body of Christ and into this local church (Acts 2:38).

sharing the good news of Jesus in evangelism

We desire to see all people become followers of Jesus as we are (Acts 26:29). We seek to use all means possible to save as many people as possible (I Corinthians 9:19-23).

In contrast to many organizations, the Church is not instituted for the benefit of its members. Christ enlists ordinary men and women into his enduring fellowship, not primarily in order to save them, but because He has work for them to do. It is a genuine revelation that His primary call to commitment, "Come to me," is associated at once with a call to labor, "Take my yoke upon you." The Church is essential to the Christian, not because it brings him personal advancement or even inspiration, but because, with all its failures, it is an indispensable instrument for the redemption of the world.
